Follow the steps in order. Your original game data stays on your computer.
- Step 01
Download the official release
Download the official v1.0.1 release using the button below. On the release page, choose the archive that matches your operating system and save it somewhere easy to find, such as your Downloads folder.
- Step 02
Extract the downloaded archive
Right-click the downloaded archive and select “Extract All,” or open it with your preferred archive utility. Extract every file into a permanent folder. Do not run anything from inside the compressed archive—the launcher needs the other included files to remain beside it.
- Step 03
Run the launcher executable
Open the folder you extracted in the previous step, find the launcher .exe file, and double-click it. Keep all extracted files together in the same folder. If Windows shows a security prompt, first confirm that you downloaded the archive from the official release using the button in step 1.
- Step 04
Choose your Banjo-Kazooie ROM
When the launcher asks for game data, choose a Banjo-Kazooie USA v1.0 ROM file in .z64 format. Other regions, revisions, and ROM formats are not supported. The project contains no copyrighted game data: legally dump the ROM from a cartridge you own.
- Step 05
Complete setup and start playing
Wait while the launcher completes the one-time setup. When it finishes, open the game, configure your display, audio, and controls, then start playing. Your setup is saved, so future launches are much faster and normally do not require selecting the ROM again.
